Fundraising Ideas
1. Gertrude Hawk Candy Bars - purchase bars for 60 cents each and sell for $1 each = 40% profit. Set them up all around campus.
2. Raffle Baskets - get donated items from local businesses and create a basket with a theme:
- Mother's Day Basket
- Halloween Basket
- Back to School Basket
- Holiday Basket
- Easter Basket
- 50/50 - club keeps 50%, winner keeps 50%
3. Sponsorship – ask local businesses to sponsor the club by donating money to the club. In return, the company will be promoted on the club’s social media and other materials as a sponsor of the club (see sponsorship documents). Be sure that you know your restriction on campus to not violate any rules according to how much you can obtain from a sponsor.
4. Entertainment Book fundraiser – sell entertainment books and keep a portion for the club.
5. Lottery Scratch Off Cards- You can either make these yourself, or buy them very cheap online! Give these scratch offs to your friends and family and whatever amount they scratch off, they have to donate to you. It’s a fun and easy way for each member to fundraise and as long as the amount ranges from .50 cents to $5 dollars, no one will make a fuss about donating.
6. Pancake fundraiser: Have PBL members cook pancakes and charge students $3 for all-you-can-eat pancakes! Works well if you pair it with another school event or have performances during it such as a capella groups or theatre club.
7. Pair with a restaurant/fast-food chain such as Applebee’s, Chipotle, or Coldstone: Many restaurants or food chains offer deals where they give your organization a percentage of profits if you bring people and have them say “PBL brought me here.”
* Very easy and don’t have to spend anything—just a lot of advertising effort!

8. Juice/water pong tournament: College kids love to compete in pong! Set up a juice or water pong tournament where sign-ups are a small fee (2-3 dollars) and offer a prize for the winner of the tournament such as a small gift card or gift basket) as incentives for people to sign up.
9. Can you Spare a Dollar? Since most people won’t refuse to donate only $1- print out a sheet like this and try to get each of your members to complete the sheet by asking for friends and professors’ signatures along with one dollar (if each member completes the sheet, you would make $18 per member without having to spend anything on materials.)
10. Fundraising Letters: This works great if you need financial assistance for Nationals. Write a professional letter explaining your role as a PBL member and how you worked hard to make it to nationals. Send this letter to your friends, family, and professors asking them for small donations to help make it possible to send you to nationals. Sample fundraising letters can be found online as well.
